Posisi kru kapal kontainer terbagi menjadi tiga departemen utama: dek, mesin, dan katering. Posisi-posisi di departemen dek mencakup Kapten (tertinggi), Chief Officer (Mualim I), Second Officer (Mualim II), Third Officer (Mualim III), serta awak dek seperti Boatswain (Mandor Dek), Able Seaman (ABK), dan Ordinary Seaman (Kelasi Biasa). Departemen mesin terdiri dari Chief Engineer (Kepala Kamar Mesin), Second dan Third Engineer (Masinis II dan III), serta Electrical Engineer (Juru Listrik) dan Oiler (juru minyak) atau Wiper (pembantu). Dek Department Responsibility On Board
- Kapten: Pemimpin tertinggi kapal yang bertanggung jawab atas keselamatan dan operasional seluruh awak dan kapal.
- Chief Officer (Mualim I): Perwira tertinggi kedua, bertanggung jawab atas operasi kargo (pemuatan/pembongkaran), pemeliharaan dek, dan mengawasi awak dek.
- Second Officer (Mualim II): Bertanggung jawab atas navigasi, pemeliharaan peta, dan rencana pelayaran.
- Third Officer (Mualim III): Membantu Mualim II dan bertanggung jawab atas perawatan alat keselamatan seperti sekoci dan peralatan pemadam kebakaran.
- Bosun (Mandor Dek): Pemimpin awak dek non-perwira yang mengawasi peralatan kargo dan tugas-tugas dek lainnya.
- Able Seaman (ABK): Awak dek berpengalaman yang membantu perwira dek, mengemudikan kapal, melakukan patroli, dan menangani tali.
- Ordinary Seaman (Kelasi Biasa): Posisi junior yang membantu ABK dalam tugas-tugas seperti pembersihan dek, pengecatan, dan pekerjaan dasar lainnya.

- Purser: Bertanggung jawab atas urusan keuangan dan administrasi kapal, serta logistik awak kapal.

- Pelayan: Membantu juru masak dan tugas-tugas pelayanan lainnya di area makan.

- Chief Officer (Mualim I): The second highest officer, is responsible for cargo operations (loading/unloading), deck maintenance, and supervising the deck crew.
- Second Officer (Mualim II): Responsible for navigation, map maintenance, and cruise plans.
- Third Officer (Mualim III): Assisting Mualim II and responsible for the maintenance of safety equipment such as lifeboats and fire fighting equipment.
- Bosun (Deck Foreman): A non-officer deck crew leader who oversees cargo equipment and other deck duties.
- Able Seaman (ABK): Experienced deck crew who assist deck officers, steer ships, conduct patrols, and handle ropes.
- Ordinary Seaman: Junior positions that assist crew members in tasks such as deck cleaning, painting, and other basic work.
Engine Department
Machinery Department
- Chief Engineer: The supreme leader in the engine department is responsible for all the ship’s engines and electrical systems.
- Second Engineer (Engine II): The main assistant of the Head of the Engine Room, is responsible for the maintenance of the main engine and supervises the Engine III.
- Third Engineer (Machinis III): Assists the Machinist II and is responsible for the condition of several machines and auxiliary tools.
- Electrical Engineer: Responsible for all electrical systems on board.
- Oiler: Responsible for supporting the maintenance and repair of the machine under the supervision of the Mechanic.
- Wiper: Junior positions that assist the Oiler and other basic maintenance tasks in the engine room.
Kitchen – Catering Department
- Purser: Responsible for the ship’s financial and administrative affairs, as well as crew logistics.
- Cook: Responsible for preparing food and keeping the kitchen clean.
- Waiter: Assisting the cook and other service tasks in the dining area.
